Webcast Guide - Event Streams

See the list of Regional webcasts available on here. Or you can find a link on the Regional events results page, like this. Please don’t repost our twitch stream content, though. Individual matches will be immediately posted to our YouTube channel, and once the event is over, the live Twitch channel links on the events results page will switch to the archived Twitch links.

If you want to watch District events, check out the list on The Blue Alliance.

[Make sure you update] Required NI Update Suite (2019.2.0) released

A required NI Update Suite (2019.2.0) 488 with a new roboRIO image (FRC_roboRIO_2019_v14) has been released. This image fixes a bug where robots randomly enter the Watchdog Not Fed state (disabling outputs) for ~2.5s when they should be enabled. To use this image, C++\Java teams must have the previously released 2019.3.2
update installed.

Chairman’s Interview

Now that the Chairman’s essay and executive summary have been submitted, it is time to get ready for your Chairman’s Interview. Each team will be allotted 7 minutes to do their presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions from the judges. You are allowed up to three student presenters and one adult can observe silently. Make sure to be prepared and to know all there is to know about your team. Make sure to sign up for a time slot at pit admin so that you can be interviewed.

6 hours of unbag time

Remember you are aloud to take your robot out of the bag for a total of 6 hours. Your team should use this time wisely and make sure you give your drive team some practice.

The importance of Empathy

Yesterday 1305 enjoyed our most recent lunch and learn session on empathy. We are thankful to have a special guest speaker Laura Piche. Laura gave us some insightful tips on the topic of empathy. Laura explained that the world lacks empathy and we should all get better at implementing it in our daily lives. Thank you Laura Piche. #WeBelong

Naming Your Robot

Finding a robot name is a long process that 1305 holds very dearly. Here at 1305 we have a naming tradition. We take the current year, 2019, and the equivalent element on the periodic table, 19, so Potassium. The symbol for potassium is K, so our robots name must include the letter K in it. We had a long list of names and sorted through them to proudly name our robot... Kepler! And, don’t forget there’s only 3 days left until bag and tag!

Lifting your robot

Make sure to have a secure way to lift your robot and a proper place to hold on to. Our team has mounted handles to make our robot easier and safer to carry. The last thing you want is to drop your robot or hurt someone.

Protect your electronics!

To protect your electronics is a must! Game pieces and other items can fall and hit your electronics, damaging than and causing your robot to not be able to drive. A good way to protect them is to make covers that hung over

This year, we created a Safety Game, to teach team members and mentors information on basic FIRST safety practices and rules in the build room. If you wish to see the game and use it for a template of your own for your own team, here's the link:

whileHeld vs whenPressed

Make sure you know you are using the right button type when mapping commands.
Make sure when your clamping something down, to make sure it's secure to the surface properly. A improper clamp that isnt tighten properly can create a unsafe situation.

Chairman's Video Rules

Teams submitting for Chairman's must bring a copy of their chairman's video to the event they are attending. These will be handed to the judges upon entering the judging room. There are very specific guidelines about the video and what method it is presented in. The detailed list of guidelines can be found at https://www.firstinspires.org/resource-library/frc/submitted-awards. Good luck teams!

Drive team selection

It is important to select a drive team soon. They will need to practice, practice, practice once the robot is driveable.

FIRST Canada has created a new certificate program to recognize the help provided by FIRST Teams to other FIRST teams. It requires you to go to the FIRST Canada website and fill out a form with your team information and the mentored teams information. You will then be sent a certificate to recognize that you have mentored if the mentored team confirms you have. You can find the application at the link below.

Weigh your robot!

its a good idea to make sure your robot is not over weight, if you show up to competition with a robot over 125 lbs (without battery) you could be in trouble. always make sure you are checking things twice.
